Simple But Effective Blog Marketing Strategy

Let's face it, most blogs are a waste of time and money. There are tons of them out there but very few get any real traffic or make money. I think there's 3 main reasons for this:
1. The blogger has no blog marketing strategy.
2. The blog isn't constructed correctly.
3. The blogger doesn't post enough keyword rich content.
So what does it take to have success with a blog?
It all starts with content. I'll give you a real life example of the construction of a particular post.
The content I wanted to write about was the "Top 5" article submission sites. Thats information I know my audience is interested in. Here's how I went about blogging it:
Step 1. Keyword research
I used google's keyword research tool. Just google "google keyword tool" and it will pop right up. I then entered the keyword: "article submission." Out of the results, one stood out: "article submission sites"
It was getting about 880 search results per month, and had low competition. That qualifies it as a good "long tail" keyterm to go after.
Step 2. Content Creation. The content starts with a headling, which should always include the key term, so this is the one I came up with:

Step 3 Create blog post. I now write the post. I had to do research to determine what the top 5 sites were, then I simply wrote about that and gave the sites. One trick I also always do is include the keyterm in the first sentence, once or twice more in the body, then bold the first use of it. This tells the search engines that your content really is about that keyterm.
Step 4 Promote. Once your post is up, it has to be promoted! I recommend that you up-date your Facebook status (something like "Just posted the top 5 article submission sites on my blog! http://escapethematrix.net/blog works great.)
Step 5 Check your stats! Now, this can be discouraging at first, because online marketing can feel like throwing feathers in the wind for a while! But be consistent and persistent and the results will come.
Step 6 Rinse and Repeat! The search engines love content. If you can blog every day, following the simple strategy above, you'll be amazed how much traffic you get over time.
The great thing about this strategy is it's not based on any gimmicks or tricks, and it doesn't cost anything!
